Is this you? Is this somebody you know?
“I might be teaching Year 11 or 12 Advanced in 2021 for the first time.”
“I didn’t teach Advanced in 2019 or 2020.”
“I taught Advanced in 2019 / 2020 but I am looking to do it better in future.”
“I haven’t, as yet, had any professional learning about Advanced.”
“I am always happy to receive non-textbook resources for Advanced.”
“I want to know more about what schools did for the investigative-style assignment.”
“I feel like I have a lot more to learn about Advanced”
“My colleagues at school know a lot more about Advanced than I do.”
“I have some lingering doubts about what is (and isn’t) in the syllabus.”
“I have noticed that the textbooks contain very different treatments of some topics.”
“I would like to mingle with teachers from other schools.”

What you will gain from attending:
  • Things NESA changed AFTER the syllabus was released.
  • Reading between the lines of the syllabus for the things we couldn't see at first, such as the ‘the area of a region bounded by a curve and the y-axis'.
  • Handy electronic resources for teachers.
  • A post-mortem of the first HSC Examination.
  • What did we do for the 'investigative-style assignments' in Years 11 and 12 and what will we do differently in future?
  • An easy-to-read summary of the concepts covered in Advanced.
  • A scope-and-sequence and assessment schedule used in many schools in 2019/2020.
  • A teaching program for every topic, linked to useful electronic teaching resources.
  • A topic test which embraces NESA’s 50/50 requirement.
  • Two investigative-style assignments used in many schools in 2019 and 2020.
  • Helpful ideas. Useful resources. Expert advice. That is the PD4MATHS mantra.

This was a great workshop, thank you. The resources were fantastic. It was great to be able to chat with other teachers about topics on here and also what we are facing in the current situation. Also if you have not used Zoom before or are new to it, great to learn tips on it.

This is a perfect alternative to face to face in trying times. Just have someone else with you to talk over ideas. Don’t be afraid to embrace something new. It wasn’t hard at all.

The content and resources provided are great. The Zoom presentation did not hinder the delivery of material, we still could chat and talk amongst other attendees. Lots of opportunities to ask questions, in fact all questions had been addressed. I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand how the technology worked and how powerful the online presentation can be as we move to this model. Thanks again Stuart, a wonderful day.

I changed my mind late the night before to continue with the workshop. Most of my hesitancy was due to the fact I would have to use new technology that I hadn't done previously. I am really pleased that I made this decision because I got as much from this video meeting as I would have if it were delivered in a room with a data projector at a public venue.

Feedback

I have never interacted with this amount of teachers in professional dialogue of such a high standard of inspiration, structuring and participation. The format is very flexible and wonderfully varied in perspectives. I am enjoying it. Thank you.
